Pasta Party Build Update – Coming Together

My Sour Pasta Party build is coming along and at this point everything is on the frame except the wheels, cog, chain, and pedals. Most of it was pretty standard. Double external cup headsets are a bit less common these days and rather than spend for a White Industries or Chris King (which currently have a long lead time), I went with a Nukeproof Horizon that was available in the color I was looking for.

The SLX BR-M700 (post mount) front and BR-M7100 (flat mount) rear calipers both work with the SLX BL-M7100 levers but use different hose kits, which is all noted in the specs for each caliper on the Shimano website so no surprises there. I did need to order shorter flat mount bolts as the caliper came with bolts for a 25mm chainstay/mount thickness but the mounts on the Pasta Party are designed to recess the bolt heads and needs the bolts for a 10mm thick mount.

The Shimano SL-MT800-IL dropper lever is an I-spec mount that goes on the brake clamp rather than using a separate clamp. It has a nice range of adjustment in multiple axes and it cleans up the cockpit slightly, which is appreciated on a single speed. The lever has a nice feel and works well with the PNW post.

Other parts of note are a Fox 32 Performance Step Cast 100mm fork, XT FC-M8120 crankset with a direct mount 30t chainring, Tandell 750mm carbon bars with a Syncros XR 50mm stem, SDG Duster Ti saddle, and King Ti bottle cages.

I’m looking forward to building the wheels (last gen XTR 28h hubs w/ HG driver, and Tandell carbon rims 26/32mm rear, 27/33mm front) and finally getting to ride it.
