I recently picked up a used Tokina 400mm f/5.6 and was happy to get to try it out this past weekend up in Vermont. The lens is usable at f/5.6 but best at f/8 or f/11. Overall the lens was a great value as it cost me 1/4 the price of the Canon 400mm f/5.6 L. I even captured my first real wildlife photo using it.
