The Alaska trip was excellent and the photos can be seen here. I took about 320 shots during the week and pared them down to about 100 for printed 4x6s. The iPod Media Reader performed as expected, allowing me to offload my photos from the day to the iPod and clear my memory cards before going to bed. Thanks to the iPod's firewire connection, downloading the photos to the computer upon returning home was speedy as well.
